Education Lasmotec Surhuisterveen

Training important to business continuity

Lasmotec attaches great importance to the training of young people to become professionals. It takes 5-6 years of intensive work to train young people at Lasmotec to grow from beginner to the highest level of professionalism. By continuously training young people we can continue to meet the need for good professionals. This is how we ensure the continuity of our business for the future.

12 mechanical engineering/all-round welding apprenticeships

We currently have 12 mechanical engineering/all-round welding apprenticeships available. They will be our fourth group of apprentices. These apprentices will start by learning the welding process. They will then be part of the production process. We train the apprentices 4 days a week. In addition, they will go to school 1 day a week. Because everyone has their own talent at their own level, we prefer to have a mix of different educational levels in the workplace. We have apprenticeships at levels 2, 3 and 4. Our aim is to train apprentices to become professionals who continue their career within our company.

Assembly: an important learning school

After the internal training, a lot of practical experience still has to be gained to become a true professional. An important learning school is the assembly; this is where the apprentices learn entirely new facets of the profession and where they can put what they have learned in our factory into practice in the field.

Advisory Board Friese Poort training

In addition to offering apprenticeships, we are also involved with the educational institutions. A representative of our company has a seat on the Advisory Board of ROC Friese Poort. In this way, we can indicate exactly what the sector and our company needs and actively steer the education programme in the right direction.

Providing training material and using employees who teach at school are among the options for linking education to practice.

Young apprentices as ambassadors of technology

We are constantly looking for ways to show that a job in technology is not only challenging, it also offers good future prospects. We realise that young people are more likely to accept this information from people of their own age. For this reason, two apprentices have their own Instagram account with us, making them ambassadors of technology. They use this account to show their experiences and they offer an interesting look behind the scenes.
