“The challenge for me is to bring the tasks together to a successful conclusion.””

I have worked for Lasmotec since 2016 as Draughtsman, Planner and Project Leader.

My working day is never the same. Sometimes I am on site the whole day, which brings many challenges and meetings. But sometimes I spend a whole day behind my desk with various tasks to do.

The challenge for me is to bring the tasks together, small or large, to a successful conclusion.

“A day without laughter is a day wasted”

I have worked for Lasmotec since 2004. As Head of Workplace I am responsible for preparing the orders for production in the factory. In the area of human resources I am responsible for hiring staff and supervising young employees. Resolving problems and meeting challenges head on is also an important part of my job.

Every day presents a new challenge that I am more than happy to take on. Contact with my colleagues, customers and suppliers is very important to me. It is my ambition to continue enjoying my job for a long time to come and to keep the quality and quantity of the production high.

“Always try to see the good in other people. No problem is so big that it cannot be solved!”

In 2006, Gerrit asked me to come and work for Lasmotec. To learn all aspects of the business, I worked for a couple of months in Assembly. I then held various jobs in the office and in this way I grew to become Head of Business Office.

Every day is different at Lasmotec. You can think of 100 situations about how the day will go, but it always ends up being number 101. That’s what makes the work very attractive. To give some structure to the week, Mondays are always taken up with meetings. I spend the rest of the week in consultation with colleagues on planning and control, invoicing of projects and, of course, I am ready to help out wherever needed. As far as my ambitions are concerned, I want to grow as much as possible within the company.

“Enjoying your work is very important to me.”

I have worked for Lasmotec since March 2017. When I started work here I was initially responsible for warehouse management and welding & quality control/registration. I now work in the office as a Planner.

I am mainly busy with requesting quotes, placing orders and reporting the arrival of orders. I also ensure that the mechanics receive their orders on site.

Being responsible for quotes and purchase orders for various projects and the contact with suppliers makes every working day a great challenge.

“An eye for detail”

I have been working for Lasmotec since November 2006. Technology has always fascinated me and it still does every day. On an average working day you will find me buried under drawings and pipe schedules. When I walk through the factory and see that what I have been working on has been implemented, I feel proud and that’s when I enjoy my work.

There is always something new to learn in this profession. So continuing to gain knowledge is not only a must but also my ambition.

“Don’t wait for a good day to happen, make it happen yourself!”

I started working for Lasmotec in a part-time position as HSE coordinator in September 2018. It is my task to ensure that the safety policy is in order and that the rules and regulations are properly followed.

This is a huge challenge for me and a totally different sector to the temporary agency sector in which I have worked for many years.

Because I have just switched jobs, this job is currently one big ambition. My goal is to get a grip on the entire safety picture and ultimately deal with it more in-depth.

In April 1993 Oebele and Gerrit asked me to come and work for Lasmotec. Since then, I have been employed by Lasmotec as Administrator. An average working day for me consists of invoicing, taking care of payments and preliminary work for the salary administration.

The varied work and the contact with each other are what make my work so attractive. If you were to ask me about my ambitions, then I would say that most of all I want to be a good person.

After working 27 years for an accounting firm, I applied for the position of bookkeeper at Lasmotec B.V. where I started in 2018.

The average working day consists of the processing of timesheets, checking and paying incoming invoices and any other necessary work at the office.

Being happy in my job is very important to me. And that is not difficult at Lasmotec with all the nice colleagues and the pleasant working atmosphere.

“It’s a good day to have a good day. ”

I have worked for Lasmotec as HSE Coordinator and Quality Manager since January 2014. It was a coincidence that I ended up in this profession, but to this day I am grateful for that.

My main task is to guarantee that Lasmotec’s products and welding meet the applicable laws and regulations. These include European, American, German or other laws and regulations. This could involve the question of whether the product food safe is and/or the product meets the legal safety requirements (CE).

An average working day can involve extending a welding certificate, collecting certificate associated materials, writing and implementing a pipework strength test, researching and organising non-destructive testing, drawing up an EU declaration, etc.

Having specific and important knowledge of areas that not everyone knows much about is really nice. In addition, the metal industry and Lasmotec’s customer base is very varied and challenging. And, of course, I have the nicest colleagues at Lasmotec with a lot of knowledge, which makes every working day a party.

It is my ambition to roll out the ISO quality system at Lasmotec to further guarantee quality control. Personally, I also want to develop myself further so that I can provide colleagues and customers with even better advice.

After studying I went to work for a company where transport tankers were built. After a few years of working for an industrial assembly company, I became self-employed and set up Lasmotec with Gerrit.

There is no average working day at Lasmotec. I have a diary for appointments but I mainly look at what the day brings. In practice this means that I start early in the morning and then just stop when it gets to the evening.

The attractive side of my work is the versatility. We deal with many different projects, customers and people. I also enjoy the healthy tension of knowing how the projects are doing. This could be about whether we will make the deadline, the quality and, equally important, the financial side of things.

If I look at where Lasmotec will be 5 years from now, Lasmotec will certainly still be at this level. There may be some shifts as far as work and customers are concerned, but that is a continuous process.

Privately, there is a lot to be proud of. But, keeping the focus on Lasmotec, I am proud that I started Lasmotec with Gerrit and that Lasmotec is what it is today. All of us have put something new together.

“If you want to achieve something you have to persevere.”

Because I wasn’t happy with my job at my previous employer, I decided at that time to start working for myself. I thought that the work could be done better and I wanted to follow my own path. Moreover, I discovered that I am not really suited to working for someone.

Each new day at Lasmotec brings something surprising. Although I don’t really have a set task, I am usually coaching and giving people guidance the whole day. I feel I am a people manager. I like working with people and want to ensure a good working atmosphere. The contact with existing and new customers is also an attractive side of my work.

For Lasmotec, I see an even more important role for our existing and new customers in another 5 years from now. Lasmotec will then still be known as a professional and reliable partner in welding and assembly technology, with more national and international customers.

When I look at Lasmotec, I feel proud. Proud of what the company has become and the road it took to get there. I am proud of my employees, they are all team players. And I am very proud of my partner for her continued support.

A nice little anecdote from the start of my career:

At the start of my assembly career, I worked as an apprentice together with my older colleague at a sausage factory. One day my colleague said that he found it strange and a pity that we were never allowed to sample the warm sausage. The next day at 8 o’ clock a tin of warm sausages with mustard was waiting for us.
My colleague kindly thanked the man who had brought it and said that we would eat them later.
No, said the man. He had heard from the management that the sausage had to be eaten immediately. That ‘immediately’ had something to do with his big mouth, I think.
Take it from me that eating warm sausage at 8 o’ clock in the morning is not something you want to be doing. But the man remained where he was until all the sausages had been eaten. I was sick the rest of the day. Thanks Gerben…
